Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for an Academic Support Assistant to work in Academic Success Center (ASC) Tutoring. The Academic Support Assistant is responsible for the planning, development and delivery of centralized academic support programs which promote student success. ASC Tutoring also provides support for new retention initiatives, assists with recruitment efforts, acts as a resource for campus academic departments and other support programs, and provides professional development opportunities for the professional and student staff. The Academic Support Assistant communicates with faculty to identify qualified student tutors, trains tutors in tutoring best practices and unit procedures, schedules tutors, supports tutors through ongoing conversations and providing relevant supplemental training, and responds to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff. The Academic Support Assistant also personally tutors individuals and groups of students. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • A minimum of one-year teaching, training or tutoring experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Higher Education work experience.
  • Educational background in Mathematics.
    Work Schedule: N/A Salary and Benefits: Minimum Salary is $39,000. May be benefits eligible; more information at Careers@Brockport. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
