About the Position

The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions is directly responsible for recruitment and admissions of graduate students to the University across the professional portfolio of graduate programs. The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions will manage all aspects of the admissions funnel for prospective students across all professional graduate programs. The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions is also responsible for management of targeted recruitment programming. 

This position serves as a liaison with Technical Services and will work collaboratively across key functions in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and in collaboration with undergraduate admissions and enrollment management team to compliment services and streamline process and work efforts. 

Essential job responsibilities include:

Recruitment: 

• Serves as the first point of contact for inquiries including Slate, phone, e-mail, zoom and in-person engagement with prospective students and responsible for logging the appropriate documentation in Slate (CRM) 

• Build and cultivate relationships with and assist prospective students throughout all phases of the enrollment cycle from inquiry through to admission. 

• Utilize all CRM communication management tools to maintain contact with prospective students throughout admissions/enrollment process and facilitate a smooth transition to the Assistant Director of Graduate Advising and Student Experience and the appropriate program. 

• Attends graduate recruitment and admissions events both on campus, virtually and regionally as requested and to meet stated enrollment and student experience goals 

• Assists with development and execution of in-person and virtual events, as well as liaising with Marketing and Communications for all relevant communication and website updates in addition to Enrollment Management liaisons for integration of events with Slate. 

• Conduct interviews, appointments, and group information sessions for prospective students 

• Manage, in conjunction with appropriate undergraduate advisor, all 4+1 student recruitment, and admissions. 

• Assist the Director with ongoing staff development regarding recruitment, Slate CRM training, Financial Aid Cross-Training, Travel Schedule Planning, etc. 

• In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Graduate Advising and Student Experience, manages targeted recruitment programming as assigned by the Director. 

• Develop in-depth knowledge about DelVal, the academic and extracurricular programs and articulate these messages to prospective students, families, partners, and the community 

• Build relationships with DelVal academic departments, key lines of business and community partners. 

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

Admissions 

• Utilizes Slate (CRM) system to effectively follow the application lifecycle of a candidate and communicate with applicants to ensure that they are successfully moving from application start to application complete 

• Review application files for admission and make appropriate recommendations for admission decisions using stated criteria 

• Engages with application readers to ensure timely review of applications and provides support to the Director of Graduate Student Operations in data analysis and reporting to inform strategy. 

• Tracks candidate decisions and provides regular updates to the appropriate key lines of business for follow up. 

• In conjunction with the Director of Graduate Student Operations, collaborates with the University Enrollment team to promote enhanced and streamlined processes to maximize the student experience. 

• Manages the admissions administrative functions of all Graduate Professional Programs 

Operation 

• Other duties as assigned 

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree required 

• Minimum 3 years’ related experience in higher ed, admissions, sales or marketing 

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Proficiency in Admissions CRM and SIS (i.e. Slate, Ellucian) including knowledge of best practices 

• Proficiency in MS Office products – Outlook, Word, Excel, Access 

• Excellent written and oral communications skills 

• Excellent attention to detail 

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 

• Knowledge of trends in college admissions and financial aid processes 

 

Physical demands and working conditions for this position include:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

• Occasionally lifting 25 lbs or less 

• Typically standing or walking
