Position Summary:
The Documentation Studio Assistant works with BFA and Graduate PNCA students in the photographic documentation of their artwork for portfolios and assignments, staffing the Documentation Studio during scheduled hours and by appointment. During these times the Doc Studio Assistant works with students to light and photograph their artwork, using industry standard equipment and a color managed workflow. The Doc Studio Assistant works in collaboration with other Doc Studio staff and work study to provide a schedule of staffed hours that best meets student needs during the academic year. The Doc Studio Assistant also provides hours as needed in the Digital Print Studio for large format inkjet print output of student work.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Works directly with students to document their artwork, lighting and photographing work using industry standard equipment and processes.
  • Staffs the Documentation Studio during scheduled open hours and through one on one Project Support appointments
  • Leads Documentation Studio workshops for students that teach best practices, techniques, and use of equipment for the documentation of artwork using a color managed workflow
  • Completes post production editing of images and uploads to Google Drive for distribution to students and PNCA departments
  • Works with Director of Academic Technology to schedule hours during the academic year based on faculty and student needs, adjusting hours to increase during peak times of the semester such as midterms, Focus Week and finals
  • Ensures the Documentation Studio is secure and locked, and that all Doc Studio policies are enforced
  • Works with other Doc Studio staff to maintain the studio space, supplies, and equipment throughout the school year, requesting supplies as needed
  • Works with PNCA Academic Technology to keep equipment and software updated
  • Provides staff support in the Digital Print Studio as needed to support large format inkjet print output of student work


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices for photographic documentation and lighting of artwork
  • Expert knowledge of industry standards for color managed photographic workflows
  • Proficient with Canon SLR digital cameras, studio lighting equipment and light modifiers
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe CC Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge
  • Familiar with Mac OS platforms
  • Familiar with Google Drive


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in an institution of Higher Education or creative environment
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Previous teaching or instruction experience


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift and carry fragile equipment, regularly weighing up to 20 lbs and occasionally weighing up to 50 lbs.


Salary: $20.14 per hour

Typical Work Schedule

15 -- 20 hours per week during the academic year
