Assistant Professor of Practice (Promotable non-tenure track)

Duties:  The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Purdue University, announces an academic year, full-time professor of practice position in Landscape Architecture.  Assistant professor of practice is a non-tenure track position and does not require research responsibilities but is promotable under university clinical faculty guidelines.  Undergraduate teaching is a primary responsibility of this position, and the successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of engaging in person classroom and studio-based teaching, student mentoring, and service to the students, program and department.  In addition, potential exists for teaching online courses.  While all candidates must possess a broad set of skills applicable to a comprehensive education in landscape architecture, this position seeks candidates ready to lead undergraduate design studios, as well as additional courses in landscape engineering, construction, planting design or design communication.   Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate expertise in multiple areas, bring contemporary practice ideas and projects to the classroom and be able to support teaching needs across the undergraduate program. 

The Landscape Architecture Program at Purdue University is a nationally ranked five-year professionally accredited undergraduate program leading to a B.S.L.A. degree. Qualifications:  Minimum qualification includes a Master’s degree in landscape architecture or an accredited Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and a Master’s degree in a related field as well as significant design practice experience.  Candidates with professional licensure, teaching experience or creative accomplishments are preferred.  Experience working with or teaching diverse groups is preferred.

CompensationSalary will be competitive and commensurate with professional experience.  This is an academic year appointment (9-month appointment) with excellent fringe benefits that include employer contributions to the individual’s retirement program, medical, life & disability insurance.
