Fairleigh Dickinson University is the largest private (not-for-profit) university in the state of New Jersey ( USA ) with approximately 12,000 graduate and undergraduate students and more than 100 degree programs ranging from the Associate of Arts (A.A.) to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D). The University was founded in 1942 and has four campuses in three countries. The University’s two main campuses are located in New Jersey – the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck-Hackensack (near New York City) and The College at Florham in Florham Park-Madison; its two remaining campuses are international – one in Wroxton, Oxfordshire, England (established in 1965) and the other (its newest campus) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The International School of Hospitality, Sports, & Tourism Management at Fairleigh Dickinson University is accepting applications for a tenure track, full-time Assistant Professor position in Hospitality & Tourism Management on the Florham campus with a Fall 2023 start date.
The appointment is on the Florham Campus, but faculty are expected to teach regularly on other campuses as well as at off-campus sites, and to teach nights and weekends.
Fairleigh Dickinson University ( FDU ) faculty work collaboratively and inter-professionally with colleagues, advise students, deliver instruction, participate in service, engage in scholarship, and contribute to accreditation processes. The successful candidate would teach courses in subject areas in undergraduate and graduate hospitality and tourism programs, including the Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Master of Hospitality Management Studies program. Particular areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, career orientation, hotel operations/ strategic management, hospitality financial management, sales and marketing, services management, tourism and hospitality human resources, food and beverage management, and tourism and hospitality research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative welcomed).
Required Qualifications:
1, A doctoral degree in hospitality, tourism, or a related discipline is required. ABD applicants may be considered for this faculty position, given the degree’s completion will be within 12 months of the first semester of employment.
2. Preference will be given to applicants with two or more years of managerial industry experience.
3. Experience teaching within higher education at the faculty rank of Assistant professor or higher preferred; preference given to those able to teach across the curriculum.
4. Preference given to those with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
5. Interpersonal skills to build and manage partnerships inside and outside the International School of Hospitality, S ports, & Tourism Management and the University at large.
6. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty and university administration.
7. The appointment is on the Florham Camus, but faculty are expected to teach regularly on other campuses as well as at off-campus sites, and teach nights and weekends.
Salary and benefits are competitive with peer institutions.
