Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of: equipment, bathrooms, offices, entrances, classrooms and hallways. Special cleaning of: carpet, snow removal and salting of sidewalks, and tile floors.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

• Perform general, routine custodial duties, to include but not limited to dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplied
• Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies
• Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels; for positions within residence halls, responsible for reporting concerns related to residents.
• Maintain a clear line of communication with management in deficiencies or defective areas within your assigned work area.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2 years of custodial experience in a commercial building preferred
• Valid driver’s license required to use any company vehicle required
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather
• Knowledge and experience with operating power tools and equipment
• Must be able to handle routine maintenance of campus buildings and grounds
• Must be willing to mix and use cleaning chemicals
• Must have a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, and in a group environment
• Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Facilities Management Software
• Must exhibit professional appearance and behavior
• Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to lift and maneuver independently up to 50 lbs. required
