Security Analyst, PSS2

Position Summary :

As a Security Analyst in Rowan University’s Security Operations department, you will serve as a security subject matter expert and be a key team member involved in various security related projects and implementations. Reporting to the Associate Director of Security Operations, your areas of concentration will include, but not be limited to: Rowan’s Security Information and Event Management
(SIEM), endpoint protection management, incident response, and vulnerability management.

Position Responsibilities :

• Implement and manage Microsoft Sentinel and Defender security tools.
• Log ingestion and generation of reports/SOAR playbooks within our SIEM environment.
• Monitor, identify, investigate, and resolve issues related to security breaches, unauthorized access, or potential security risks.
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and run books with a
  focus on security.

Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or 4 years equivalent work experience.
• Three (3) years of professional experience working in a security operations setting.
• Expertise in systems administration and industry standard security tools, combined with knowledge of security practices and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Sentinel and the Defender suite of security tools.
• Technical experience with firewall technologies including but not limited to Web filtering, application filtering, ACL management, intrusion detection, sandbox analysis.
• Detailed knowledge of Microsoft, macOS, and Linux systems in order to effectively troubleshoot
  security concerns.
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry standard security tools such as Snort, nmap, etc.
• Understanding of industry best practices surrounding proper maintenance and support of an environment requiring 24x7 availability.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical issues and offer solutions.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills for communicating to application owners, management, Internal Audit, user community, and security violators.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and create comprehensive Visio diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Querying experience with Microsoft KQL.
  Advanced firewall experience (Palo Alto ”Panorama/Wildfire”, Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, etc).
• Demonstrated experience with intrusion detection, security system scanning, password
  auditing, network based and vulnerability scanning.
• Implementation of Sentinel environment - both log ingestion, analytic templates, and workbook
  creation.
• Higher Education work experience.
• Desktop support (Tier 1 & 2) and networking experience
