Job Details

The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a full-time academic year appointment for an Assistant Professor in Orchestral Conducting / Director of Orchestral Activities beginning in the fall of 2023.

Conduct and administer the University of Rhode Island Symphony Orchestra; teach conducting at the undergraduate level (and graduate level as needed); be an active recruiter for students necessary for the maintenance of a robust orchestral program; advise students; teach courses in other areas of qualification, which might include but not be limited to applied lessons in an orchestral instrument, music theory, music education, musicology, music business, jazz studies or music courses in general education. Maintain a portfolio of research and/or creative activity appropriate to rank.
