Reports to: AVPAA of the School of Arts and Sciences

As a member of the Division of Academic Affairs, the Director supervises all aspects of the Office of Career Services including the planning, implementation and administration of comprehensive career development programs for students and alumni.

The Director is responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining partnerships with major employers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and, specifically, in the MetroWest Region in order to facilitate internship and career opportunities for Anna Maria College students and alumni. This position requires a solid understanding and ability to use current career management technology platforms as well as desire to learn and master new technologies and platforms. This is a forward-facing position working directly with students, while creating a strong community network of employers and community members to support the work.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads the daily operations of the Office of Career Services.
  • Establishes and implements departmental policies and manages department budget.
  • Writes and presents grant proposals in collaboration with Institutional Advancement to obtain funds to support ongoing programs and for the development of new projects.
  • Coordinates assessment of departmental activities to promote a culture of continuous improvement and utilize for student advising, programming, and other College needs as directed.
  • Collaborates with Institutional Research for enhancing and delivering First Destination survey initiative, demonstrating return on investment, post-graduation employment, and the Anna Maria College experience.
  • Supervises the event planning and the development of programs that facilitate connections between students and employers and/or community members, develops partnership opportunities with employers.
  • Supports the academic faculty advisors in advising students on an individual and group basis regarding career planning, graduate school, and employment issues.
  • Works with academic departments to meet the career and internship needs of students in targeted majors as needed.
  • Collaborates with both Academic Affairs & Student Affairs to create and enhance the connection between career readiness and development of a co-curricular resume.
  • Addresses alumni groups, parents, faculty, student organizations, and other administrators on career-related issues. Makes concerted effort to develop new partnerships with alumni, families and faculty.
  • Serves as the College’s Handshake administrator.
  • Works as part of the First Year Experience team to manage the Peer Mentor program.
  • Builds relationships and creates awareness among corporate and community organizations regarding the benefits of hiring Anna Maria College students and graduates.
  • Counsels students on the internship process and guides students to potential internship placements. Partners with other staff within Academic Affairs to track an internship’s progress and to access a student’s internship experience while utilizing Handshake.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Institutional Equity Action Committee (IEAC) to develop and implement diversity initiatives and programs.
  • Works with partners in industry and commerce to develop knowledge of local, regional and national employment trends.
  • Works with partners in industry and commerce to develop knowledge of the career center’s services and to increase job postings, recruitment, and hiring activity.
