The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Program Director of Community Engagement for the Office of Undergraduate Programs.  One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.   

 

 

We are seeking an outgoing and mission driven professional who thrives on building community relationships with internal and external constituents in the Prince Georges, Montgomery County and Anne Arundel County surrounding areas. The position will be responsible for building a pipeline of students and creating programming to incentivize students to enroll in post-secondary education at the University of Maryland College Park with a focus on business as a discipline. The incumbent will build partnerships with local area high schools to help recruit students. This position will be responsible for serving as a strategist to plan, lead and execute all aspects of community engagement by collaborating with educators and facilitating workshops for high school students. The Director of Community Engagement will partner with multicultural communities and help support the educational mission of higher education by providing them with access to advanced educational opportunities and programs. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 4-8 years of experience building curriculum and/or has produced community-based strategies; experience in either a formal or informal education setting, developing and implementing programs for students and their families. Experience with building strong relationships with external constituents and partnering with community-based organizations serving diverse populations of secondary level students in a variety of settings. Excellent organizational management skills and the ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade others within a wide variety of networks; ability to work effectively as a member of a team, a supervisor, and a mentor; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Power Point, Excel; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. A current driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland with fewer than 6 points. Preferences: Master’s degree preferred; higher education experience preferred.
