About the Job

The Office of Student Engagement is committed to enhancing our students' college experience through a variety of social programming in order to foster personal growth, provide leadership opportunities, and encourage connectivity in a safe and creative environment.

The Student Engagement & Activities Coordinator provides support to the Student Engagement Team in order to effectively achieve departmental, divisional, and institutional goals. These responsibilities include:
  • Supervise Student Activity Programmer (SAPs) and oversee weekend / evening programming
  • Provide planning and assistance aspects of major programs on campus such as Orientation, Champlain Weekend, Admitted Student Days, Senior Week, Activities Fair, and other assigned activities
  • Plan and execute medium to large scale programs and events
  • Co-Advise CHAMP, a student run programming board
  • Develop strong relationships with university departments, special groups and external vendors as necessary to carry out functions of the position

This position reports to the Director of Student Engagement to provide comprehensive student activities and year-round programming, including fall and spring orientations. This position is responsible for building and improving student programs and a sense of community with faculty, staff, and students in co-curricular, special interest, recreation, fitness and wellness programming.


Requirements:

This is a 12 month, full time position in the Division of Student Affairs. A Bachelor's degree is required (Master's Preferred) and experience in providing social programming. Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Evening and weekend hours are required. This position is a labor-intensive job that requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.

  • Experience with programming in student affairs and strong program development responsibilities include event management, student supervision, data collection and social media content maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with students, faculty and staff as well as local resources
  • Experience working in a higher education or community-based setting preferred
