Job Summary
The Department of Engineering Technology at the Missouri Western State University invites applications for Assistant Professor position in Construction Engineering Technology (Tenure track) beginning in August 2023 . Successful candidates for this position will hold a Ph.D. in construction, civil, or mechanical engineering, and have earned a PE license.
The ABET -accredited Department of Engineering at Missouri Western offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Construction Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and minors in Construction Management and Manufacturing Technology. At the graduate level, the Department partners with the AACSB accredited Craig School of Business to offer an MBA concentration in Engineering Technology Management.
Successful applicants will join MWSU as the campus breaks ground for the new Convergent Technology Alliance Center ( CTAC ), a state-of-the-art facility that will house applied learning labs that mirror those in today’s – and tomorrow’s – industrial environment. This facility not only represents campus and region’s commitment to technology and to regional partnerships, but also creates a unique opportunity for faculty to conduct research, work with industry and government, all while developing innovative industry and field-driven programs. Additional career opportunities at the director-level are expected as the project develops.
Ideal candidates will have disciplinary expertise and professional experience, show evidence of or the potential for exceptional teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level (in-person and online), and the ability to collaborate with industry, government, and areas educational partners.
Essential Job Duties
Duties for candidates for tenure-track positions include performance of activities corresponding with the teaching, scholarship, and service expectations for the department and college. We seek colleagues with disciplinary expertise and professional experience, evidence of exceptional teaching, and the potential for scholarly productivity and collaboration with the region and community.
Successful candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) will:
- Demonstrate disciplinary and professional expertise, and evidence of exceptional and innovative teaching and advising with diverse undergraduate or adult learners (in-person and online).
- Exhibit existing and potential scholarly productivity as well as the desire to collaborate with colleagues, the region, and community.
- Demonstrate a willingness to serve on department committees, attend department meetings, and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
- Ph.D. in construction, civil, or mechanical engineering, or a closely related field ( ABD considered)
- Earned or eligible for PE License
- Experience teaching courses such as Electrical Installations, Mechanical Systems, Construction Management, Computer Aided Drafting and Statics
- Success building organizational training environments and capacity
