Employee Alumni Relations Manager



Position Summary:

The Employee Alumni Relations Manager will assist with the development of strategic goals, and provide leadership in executing the strategic plan, coordination, and daily operations of our Employee Alumni program. The objectives of this program are to cultivate relationships with former employees as brand ambassadors and talent acquisition sources. Working in close collaboration with the Human Resources department as well as the Student Services and Alumni Engagement teams at National University, this position will develop and promote engagement opportunities to support these relationship building efforts, implement effective data management tools and processes, and support employee transitions out of our organization.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for driving employee alumni relations strategy. This should consider brand, culture, people, recruiting, external relationships, and business development, among other items.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, HR Service Center, and HR Leadership Team on employee offboarding, including exit survey administration, to measure health of organizational culture, perception of brand and services, employee experience, and interest in potential alumni engagement.
  • Build processes to enhance outreach, communication and engagement between National University/Systems and alumni.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen talent acquisition, brand awareness, and market presence.
  • In collaboration with Marketing, Communications, and Human Resources, develop, manage, and execute the design, implementation and administration of alumni relations programs/activities through the effective use of communications and events. This includes partnerships, engagement opportunities, targeted communications, networks and community/civic relationships with alumni.
  • Serve as the primary contact for and driver of day-to-day strategy implementation, content development and employee alumni pipeline management.
  • Handle input and requests from alumni, manages and inputs data, contributes to data analysis, measures results and evaluates accomplishments.
  • Manage, maintain, and improve employee alumni data, including analysis of membership, engagement, interests, referrals, rehires, and brand advocacy efforts.
  • Manage, track and monitor program expenditures for strategic initiative to operate within approved guidelines and monitors key performance indicators.
  • Participates in cross-functional improvement teams.

Requirements:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required; Master’s preferred.
  • Five years relevant experience in HR or talent acquisition.
  • 2-3 years relevant experience in alumni relations, community relations, or related experience.
  • Experience in development or marketing, preferred.
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR is highly preferred.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred.
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse individuals, including current and alumni employees, faculty, administrators, NU leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with peers, functional partners and/or external partners to accomplish business objectives.

Travel: Some car travel required to visit multiple locations.
