Overview
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for a research/technical specialist I/II position in the PRISM Imaging and Analysis Center (IAC) at Princeton University. The level will be determined based on the experience and educational level.
This Imaging and Analysis Specialist will report to the center director and participate in a multidisciplinary research and education program utilizing a wide range of instrumentation available in the IAC.
Responsibilities
The specialist will fill various roles in the team and provide key support, maintenance, and guidance to researchers in the characterization of complex materials. The specialist will also participate in teaching, training and helping users to operate the equipment.
Successful candidates are expected to have experience in one or more of our analysis and characterization techniques using scanning probe, electrons, ions, X-ray, optics, thermal analysis, rheometry, and others. The specialist, together with other team members, will support the center’s training program and daily operation, and will be responsible for the maintenance of microscopes, spectrometers, thermal analysis tools, electronics, vacuum systems, and sample preparation equipment.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
-
A Ph.D. degree
(preferred) in a related field and/or 4+ years related working
experience is required.
Substantial hands-on
experience in the operation of instruments for imaging (optical,
electron, X-ray), and/or analysis (optical, electron, X-ray,
thermal, rheological etc.).
Excellent
communication/writing skills and scientific knowledge are required
to work in the team and interface with students, staff, faculty and
outside users in their research projects.
Experience in the daily
maintenance of instruments and users support.
Good team player,
enjoying teaching and an open, collaborative and mutually
respecting team environment.
Motivated to learn new
tools/technologies and to take on new challenges.
