Program Manager, Program and Curriculum Development

Position Summary:
This position will have responsibility for outreach to academic units, identifying interest in new programs in all delivery modes (face-to-face, online, and hybrid/blended), responding to requests to initiate new programs, building the program team, and providing general oversight and reporting while shepherding the program from ideation through delivery.
  • Lead program development project teams to deliver high quality academic programs, that meet the University's mission, and generate positive ROI.
  • Build and develop the program team to ensure maximum performance, providing purpose, direction, design for student success, and motivation.
  • Lead program development projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and project implementation plans, including risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects achieve high-quality design to promote academic success while remaining within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with program staff from various functional departments.
  • Analyze program development progress and, when necessary, adapt scope, timelines, and costs to ensure that program team produces curricula that optimize learning and adheres to project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
2 years of academic project management experience to include:
  • Use of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet or database, survey, and project management software.
  • Developing educational programming and experience with online learning.
  • Designing curricula to promote learning and academic success for all students, including those from minoritized groups.
  • Working with faculty/instructors, staff, and all levels of management.
  • Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that require a high degree of attention to administrative details.
  • Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate qualification in a relevant field such as management, education administration, and engineering in which project management theory and practice technique are important parts of the curriculum.
  • Professional project management certification or formal coursework including project management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with traditional and alternative educational offerings, curriculum design, and the science of learning.
  • Previous success in managing the development of academic programs.
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
  • Experience evaluating and prioritizing projects based on a range of criteria.
  • Experience coaching and educating project teams to strengthen team members’ capabilities and skill sets.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to concepts and issues tied to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly as these concepts relate to creating effective learning environments.
  • Skills related to creating and supporting a workplace that allows for inclusion, effective intercultural engagement, and personal humility and authenticity.
