Job Description:

Starting in Spring 2023, the Intern will conduct a needs assessment with undergraduate STEM students, Faculty, and science librarians to inform the design and development of learning activities to support learners' Critical STEM Literacy in the context of a research library (Marston Science Library). The intern will also collaborate with the Internship Director to develop guidelines to support the implementation of the curriculum based on learners' needs and contexts (e.g., class orientation, self-paced learning). Most of this work will be remote; however, some project activities such as presentations (e.g., conferences and meetings with Library Faculty and Staff) may require in-person meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with subject-matter experts (i.e., science librarians, STEM faculty) to identify instructional goals and refine instructional activities
  • Interact with learners to identify learning preferences and expressed needs regarding library-related information and resources
  • Conduct formative evaluation of learning materials
  • Analyze and present project-related data
  • Present information about the project and related activities at conferences
  • Help to write a manuscript about the project and its outcomes

  • Hours

    Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, up to 10 hours per week (total of 160 hours/semester)

    Expected Salary:

    $22 per hour

    Minimum Requirements:
  • UF student in good standing
  • Background in Curriculum and Instruction (Area: Educational Technology)
  • Interest in or experience with information literacy projects
  • Prior experience with Design and Development Research
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research approaches
