The Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Government Department seek qualified applicants for a tenure-line professor in Russian/Eastern European politics. The search is open-rank. For candidates at the advanced assistant professor level who have a demonstrated record of research and teaching, accelerated tenure clocks or appointments at the associate professor level may be considered. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed in the School of Foreign Service (SFS) and the Department of Government.
Candidates who draw from multiple methodological approaches within both comparative politics and international relations subfields of political science are encouraged to apply. The position will support and strengthen the research agenda and curricula of SFS and the Government Department. Ideal candidates will have the ability to conduct primary research in Russian or other languages of the region and have an active research agenda on Russian/Eastern European politics. Ideally, they will teach courses on domestic politics, international relations and/or political economy of Russia/Eastern Europe. Candidates must have completed their PhDs in political science or a related doctoral degree by the time of appointment for the fall 2023 semester.
To apply, all candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample, and evidence of teaching record (syllabi and quantitative course evaluations, if available). ABDs and current assistant professors should also submit three reference letters. Current associate and full professors should submit the contact information for three referees. The SFS is strongly committed to fostering a climate that encourages diversity, equity and inclusion. All applicants should also submit a statement that discusses how they would contribute to inclusiveness in the areas of research, teaching, and service at Georgetown University and reflects on their teaching and mentorship of students from diverse backgrounds.
All applications and supporting materials must be submitted through the following link http://apply.interfolio.com/117224. Faxed, emailed, or mailed applications will not be accepted. Applications should be submitted no later than December 12, 2022. Invited interviews will occur shortly thereafter.
