Position Purpose

Leads and executes mission-critical systems and logistics for Office of the Senior Vice President for Advancement. Manages Advancement priorities for the president, provost, and trustees by driving requests for time, nominations, and meeting content and preparation, while also serving as point person for senior leadership and Board Chair for such requests. Plans and oversees all logistics for the President’s Leadership Council ( PLC ) meetings up to three times a year: on and off-campus and/or virtually. Critical to success will be working effectively with others in high-pressure situations, exercising good judgment, while handling multiple tasks within tight timeframes to execute on donor and volunteer engagement strategies.

* 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience in a complex organization with a proven
* Intelligence, professionalism, and diplomacy that enable one to work with and to gain the respect of senior officers, Advancement colleagues and volunteers, faculty, and high-level donors.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Proven collaborative approach and gracious acceptance of feedback
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively
* Strong attention to detail and able to function independently with minimal oversight
* Problem-solving orientation
* Solid research, analytical and technical skills as well as a sense of curiosity
* Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
* High ethical standards
* Strong project management skills
* Sensitive to the needs, attitudes, and situations of donors and volunteers record of successful project management

Key Accountabilities

Description
  • Drives planning process for Advancement requests for the President, Provost, and trustees’ time.
  • Requests and facilitates nominations from across the Advancement division, including professional schools, and prioritizes them for review and approval by President, Provost and Senior Vice President ( SVP ).
  • Strategizes with primary staff on travel requests; manages appointments in collaboration with President’s and Provost’s offices to ensure strategic use of time.
  • Drives deadlines so that President and Provost receive appropriate and timely briefings and supporting materials that meet the highest standards of quality, and that timely and effective follow-up activities and communications take place.
  • Prepares agendas for standing and ad hoc meetings with SVP and senior leadership.

  • Ensures best practices for efficiency and professionalism with leadership team resources
  • Advises Advancement constituents on appropriate tone, type, and quality of written requests
  • Serves as a liaison and buffer between Advancement and the President’s Office, and proactively recognizes problems and recommends solutions in a timely and direct manner.
  • Remains up to date on the research for prospects and their philanthropy to Dartmouth to support senior leadership travel strategy.

Description
  • Manages the membership, nomination records, and meeting logistics for President’s Leadership Council ( PLC ).
  • Partners with the VP PIPG and Assistant Director on recruitment and identification of new members in conjunction with SVP and Chief of Staff.
  • Requires frequent direct contact with major donors on behalf of President, Provost, and SVP .
  • Plans and oversees logistics, in tandem with events staff and others, for up to three PLC meetings per year: on campus and off campus and/or virtually.
  • Oversees RSVP’s and empowers and holds primary staff accountable for outreach to PLC members.
  • Develops schedules for individual meetings with senior leadership that occur in conjunction with formal meetings.
  • Participates in development of formal meeting content and develops or collaborates with the communications team to develop ad hoc materials for advance mailings, on-site distribution, and post-meeting needs.
