Reports to: Chair-Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Dean- Health Sciences

Status: Full-Time Faculty, Exempt

Purpose: Housed within the School of Health Sciences, t he Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences offers a bachelors degree and is in the process of seeking approval for the Master of Speech-Language Pathology*. The department is committed to developing future professionals with a commitment to meeting the needs of their clients, communities, and professions through personal and professional excellence.
Duties:
  • Support the Mission of the University as well as the School of Health Sciences, and the Mission of the Speech-Language Pathology program
  • Teach courses in the areas of speech, language, and hearing sciences and speech-language pathology
  • Provide clinical supervision for graduate student clinicians
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and equity among students and colleagues
  • Advise students (undergraduate and graduate)
  • Direct student projects and independent studies in areas of expertise
  • Provide service to the Department, School, University, and profession
  • Engage in scholarly activities
  • Promote collaboration within the Department, the School of Health Sciences, across the University, as well as with strategic community partners
  • Maintain expertise in clinical specialty areas through ongoing education
  • Contribute to the development of action plans and remediation plans for clinical education as needed
  • Participate in undergraduate and graduate program assessments
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and revision of the curriculum
  • Participate in strategic plan development and departmental assessments
  • Contribute to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements
  • Help others accomplish related responsibilities and complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in speech-language pathology or related field (Ph.D., EdD)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology licensure (or licensure eligible)
  • Commitment to advancing the diversity, equity, and inclusion of the program and university
  • Expertise in at least one clinical area as demonstrated by previous teaching experiences, scholarship activities, continuing education, and/or clinical practice in expertise area(s)
  • Experience with evidence-based service delivery in speech-language pathology
  • Meet the criteria for an ASHA-approved clinical supervisor
  • Experience with clinical supervision of speech-language pathology students
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
  • Demonstrated record of or potential for scholarship
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative and effective problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • 3-5 years clinical supervision experience
  • Interprofessional team participation
  • Working knowledge of CAA accreditation standards
  • Expertise in neurogenic communication disorders, voice, swallowing, hearing, fluency, or speech science
