Senior Application Administrator (IT Administrator/Analyst 3 - MR 13 )

The Senior Application Administrator position is highly technical in nature and supports applications that have an impact at the departmental and enterprise levels. This position will focus on Microsoft products (Windows, Azure, AD, O365) and endpoint/device management using Intune, SCCM, and Jamf. The position involves leading software installation and maintenance, application administration, problem resolution, systems security, and designing plans for system upgrades.

Primary Responsibilities:

Enterprise Systems Support
  • Provide high-quality functional/technical support and training for areas, processes, and technologies
  • Resolve high impact or urgent issues following ITIL guidelines
  • Provide support for cloud-based platforms and services
  • Perform routine, major, and emergency changes to systems and databases to ensure and maximize service availability
  • Monitor systems and propose software updates and tuning to enhance system performance and security; develop a plan for testing, implementing, and measuring the results of system performance
Solution Development and Delivery
  • Lead and design strategies around device management and security
  • Provide direction and collaborate with customers, technical staff, programmers, DBAs, system managers, and appropriate management to develop estimates, obtain buy-in to the solution design, and develop overall implementation solution plans
  • Evaluate technical requirements to accurately estimate time and cost of identified options to make recommendations on the approach from both business and technical perspectives
  • Work with vendors to provide solution components related to technologies and implementations
  • Directly perform design, development, and testing of custom solution components and reporting
  • Develop and maintain software requirements specification and architecture (design) documents
  • Generate convincing and substantiated business, technology, and architecture recommendations
Project Management
  • Lead project teams to develop and implement new systems or solutions
  • Lead projects, including planning, managing resources, and delivering final products
  • Responsible for overall work efforts in the development and implementation of new systems and solutions
  • Direct project team members and junior staff efforts
  • Research and train on new systems and/or database technologies
  • Design a training strategy and support for projects
Enterprise System Implementation, Maintenance, Updates and Upgrades
  • Under the direction of IT Leadership, ensure the proper design and security of enterprise systems
  • Plan and provide guidance for the implementation of new systems, including designing and installing the system
  • Install and configure updates for enterprise systems and proactively schedule maintenance windows
  • Coordinate with customers, technical staff, and leadership to establish timelines for updates, maintenance, and system down time
  • Ensure that the overall architecture, system updates/upgrades integrate with the other existing systems
  • Provide direction and guidance for existing and emerging technologies along with participating in complex and mission critical technical analysis
  • Design development or test environments to test configurations and upgrades where appropriate
  • Plan and execute the decommissioning of services that are no longer in use and/or replaced by a newer service
  • Provide training on new systems and procedures to IT staff and customers
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the following systems and tools is preferred: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, PowerShell, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Microsoft InTune, and Jamf
  • Knowledge of enterprise application development and support procedures
  • Knowledge of cloud computing
  • Knowledge of ITIL escalation procedures and service level agreements (SLA's)
  • Knowledge of windows and apple device management, security, and support
  • Problem resolution via PowerShell, Bash, and other command line interfaces

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors

Minimum Qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of relevant System Administrator experience, and experience leading and providing guidance on complex projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; 5 years of System Administrator experience at an enterprise level; 3+ years’ managing system configuration with tools like InTune, SSCM, Jamf, etc.; and 3+ years’ experience integrating infrastructure, application, and security services into enterprise desktop solutions are preferred.
