Position Summary

The Project Manager is a time-limited role (up to three years) in the Office of the Dean that will coordinate and manage a variety of activities and resources related to the implementation of the Arts & Sciences strategic plan. The purpose of the Project Manager (PM) position is to direct and manage activities within the Arts & Sciences Strategic Planning implementation process including initiation, planning, executing, controlling and closing associated projects, and to assist senior leadership on numerous project management activities. In particular, the PM is a main contact person for the signature initiatives and is responsible for ensuring that the signature initiative groups progress steadily, that they remain on schedule and within scope, and should assist these groups with any issues that arise. The PM manages other project processes at the direction of the executive leadership team. This position also creates regular updates and communications, monthly assessment and goal successes and challenges, and status reporting.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project management for implementation of the A&S Strategic Plan.
  • Works closely with the Associate Dean and Chief of Staff/Project Lead to track milestones and progress across all streams of activity.
  • Assists in setting meeting agendas, identifying action items, and tracking completion of action items.
  • Acts as the main contact for signature initiative groups to keep them on schedule and within the scope.
  • Ensures that signature groups stay within budget.
  • Composes regular solicitations of pilot proposals and project reviews. 
  • Provides projections/recommendations for future resource allocations. 
  • Directs support staff and advises senior faculty in personnel management or internal policy. 
  • May manage administration of shared space, equipment, and furnishings of offices. 
  • Provides planning and coordination of meetings and schedules various events and/or training, ensuring follow-up on decisions made.
  • Monitors committee activity related to proposals. 
  • As needed, establishes and enhances contact with peer institutions to facilitate collaboration and exchange of information. 
  • Participates in project review meetings and report preparation and analysis. 
  • Reviews project metrics, create updates and project reports for distribution. 
  • Creates regular updates and project communications. Works with the A&S communications team to plan school-wide communications.
  • As time allows, the position may also provide support for other strategic projects in the Dean’s Office.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years project management experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience in a higher education environment or project management setting.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with project coordination and management.
  • Effective written and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet planned project goals.
  • Demonstrated ability in M.S. Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and applications.
  • Demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly dependable and organized.
  • Effective attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple and diverse high-level tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential materials and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet planned project goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor degree in relevant field and three years of experience or a Master degree and one year of experience.

Salary Range

$55,600.00 - $94,900.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
