St. Catherine Universitywelcomes applications for anEndowed Chair in Health Education and Research. The endowed chair represents the highest honor the University can confer on prominent faculty members.

TheHenrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences (HSSHS) and theSchool of Nursing (SoN)aim to grow the scale and impact of research efforts through developing faculty scholarship efforts. The Endowed Chair in Health Education and Research will develop and lead a strategic plan that outlines a vision for scholarly pursuits that identifies needed resources and sustainable processes to develop research skills, and that plans to engage external stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Design, lead, and execute mentoring plans and processes to enhance the research skills of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Increase the research productivity of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Identify funding opportunities for faculty and assemble faculty grant writing teams to secure funding that supports scholarship growth.
  • Collaborate with other university departments to collaborate on research concepts, including the office of Sponsored Programs, Research, and External Engagement, the Office of Scholarly Engagement, Community Work and Learning, and Collaborative Undergraduate Research.
  • Engage with a wide constituency of agencies, companies, clinical and community partners to explore and then manage research partnerships on behalf of faculty.
  • Foster inter-professional research collaborations within and outside the university.
  • Facilitate increased opportunities for students to engage in collaborative research with faculty.
  • Continue to build a productive line of research that aligns with the mission and vision ofHSSHSandSON.
  • Teach two courses a year in an area of expertise that aligns withHSSHSand SoN.
  • Disseminate research reports and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • OverseeHSSHSandSONresearch events andHSSHSandSONparticipation in University-wide research events.
  • Serve on university, school, and department level committees and initiatives as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in a field of study within any discipline offered by the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences or the School of Nursing
  • A record of successful scholarship accomplishments within a Health Science or Nursing discipline, including securing external funding.
  • Experience developing and leading faculty development opportunities.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and leading efforts to improve students’ research abilities
  • Experience working in or leading inter-professional research teams
