Faculty Position in Cell and Molecular Biology

American University of Sharjah  (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates invites applications for a full-time faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor) in cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, human physiology or a closely related field, starting August 2023. The successful candidate will be required to instruct general biology courses in addition to advanced courses related to their area of expertise. As an American-accredited institution in the liberal arts tradition, we seek candidates with a passion for both teaching and research in any area of specialization to join our faculty. Candidates should also indicate any interests, qualifications or experiences related to program development.

Successful candidates must have professional experience reflecting strong commitments to teaching, research and service. As a university formed on the American model with English as the language of instruction, we give priority to candidates who have experience in North American models of higher education.

The successful candidate must have:

• a PhD in cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or human physiology (or related area) an established record of excellence in teaching, research and service, or a clear ability to establish such a record at AUS

The successful candidate will preferably have:

• experience in a North American style of higher education experience in teaching introductory biology courses experience in teaching courses in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, human physiology, and/or biotechnology as well as specialized areas of the aforementioned disciplines

The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences (BCE) offers bachelor of science degrees in biology, chemistry and environmental sciences, and minors in biology, environmental sciences and environmental policy. BCE currently has 15 full-time faculty members and 10 full-time laboratory staff actively engaged in research within the three disciplines.
