Lead, Finance Operations



Summary

Provides leadership and oversight of financial operations/activities focused primarily on the College's academic departments and centers. Provides financial analysis, budget management, and operational reporting focused on the College's academic units. Provides monitoring and analysis focused toward aligning financial performance with institutional goals in order to increase operational efficiencies, improve productivity, and maximize revenues. As a key member of the Operations team, leads initiatives to support operational reporting connected to Mosaic and other reporting platforms as needed. Serves as a key resource to the Mosaic project for all aspects of academic unit engagement. Investigates financial trends and operational measures across all Missions and Functions; providing detailed reports and presentations as required by Leadership.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

Financial operations and related activities

  • Key contributor to the annual operating budget process and associated business plans. This includes strategic analysis of the businesses to include opportunities, competitive assessments and challenges, strategic initiative review and targeted financial reviews.
  • Monitors and advises on implementation plans for reducing operating expenses, increasing operational efficiency, integrating new technologies, and improving staff and faculty productivity.
  • Plays a lead role in the development of a variety of financial reports for the Office of the Chief Operating Officer and College leadership.
  • Provides flexible reporting to include relevant components of clinical practice, research, and educational mission activities.
  • Responsible for sophisticated analyses of revenue streams and expense patterns, preparation of revenue and expense projections, and generation of recommendations to the Executive Director.
  • Performs and coordinates on ad-hoc financial analyses as required by the Executive Director to include - allocation of institutional support, break-even analyses of programs, funds flow model reviews and productivity studies.
Mosaic activities

  • Key contributor to overall engagement model, which has consistent and effective department/center/mission participation in Mosaic projects.
  • Coordinates efforts to gather and provide stakeholder input into the design, software configuration, testing, data conversion, and training activities supporting Mosaic projects. Manages key Change Management and Business Readiness activities – identifying change impacts, coordination on any related communication plan, and organizing efforts across departments to prepare for changes with the implementation.
  • Raises risks and issues on a timely basis and working with the Executive Director and team to develop resolutions and mitigations.
  • Leads role in design/implementation efforts around budget, planning and professional effort/professional tracking tools.
  • Lead role in the creation, identification, and analysis of metrics to improve business performance, creating transparency, and driving business actions.
  • Supports the development and tracking of related projects and initiatives.
  • Supports training and education efforts across the academic units and central users; individual and/or enterprise-wide.
  • Connects timely reporting with decision process for business processes and operational plans connected to strategic goals.
  • Provides ad-hoc reporting for just in time event management and special requests from executive leadership.
  • Key contributor to operational reporting and support for all COO based programs and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Six years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration
  • MBA or MPA
  • Experience in an academic or healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and communicate in highly complex, matrixed organizations
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with physicians, principal investigators, administrators, mission leaders and functional leaders of shared services
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational skills, flexible and adaptable style, and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and skilled at conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated technical acumen focused on financial analysis, budget operations and advanced reporting
