Assistant/Associate Professor

Regulatory Science

Georgia State University College of Law currently seeks an outstanding health law scholar for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in regulatory science.

The position would coordinate with interdisciplinary faculty across the university, including researchers at the School of Public Health and the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, to advance research in the rapidly evolving field of regulatory science with particular focus on products and industries regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The position also includes affiliation with Georgia State University’s Center for Law, Health and Society, ranked as no. 1 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

Part of a comprehensive research university, the College of Law is a dynamic urban-centered law school located in the heart of Atlanta with approximately 650 full- and part-time law students. We seek candidates who will make substantial and meaningful scholarly contributions, participate actively in the life of the law school, and who will enhance the College of Law’s strong teaching reputation. The faculty of Georgia State University College of Law is a collegial and accomplished community of scholars and teachers. Faculty members have published in leading law reviews and peer-reviewed journals, have authored books and book chapters, opinion pieces, and white papers, and have frequently appeared in national and international news outlets. Faculty scholarship is supported through research assistance, summer stipends, travel support, and awards. The College of Law is consistently recognized as a best-value law school and a top-ranked school for diversity and achieves excellent bar passage and post-graduate employment rates. The College of Law features innovative and nationally renowned programs in health law, access to justice, legal analytics, metropolitan and urban growth, and sports and entertainment law.

Applicants will have a J.D. or foreign equivalent; experience in regulatory science; demonstrated interest in the areas of administrative law or legislation and regulation; experience or demonstrated interest in collaborating with faculty from other disciplines such as economics, health policy, and public health; and interest in FDA-regulated industries and products, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food, tobacco, cannabis, and cosmetics. The successful candidate will teach 3-4 courses per academic year in the College of Law and advise graduate students. They will participate in external grants and contracts to support training and research programs resulting in peer-reviewed publications and promote interdisciplinary dialogue and academic service.

Applications are encouraged from candidates who would diversify the College of Law faculty. Georgia State University, a University System of Georgia unit, is an equal opportunity educational institution and an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
