Position Summary:

Plans and oversees the environmental service operations at the Oshkosh campus to meet the needs of the university, its employees, and visitors.

Occasional weekend and evening work may be required. Must have a valid WI driver’s license and be authorized to drive a university vehicle upon appointment. A criminal background investigation is required. Must pass a pre-work screen to ensure the ability to perform essential physical functions of the position.

Responsibilities
  • Implements and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for environmental services operations and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • Directs day-to-day operations of the unit to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, and unit goals and policy interpretation
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • Prepares periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • Monitors the unit budget and approves unit expenditures
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of employees

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Prior supervisor experience
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience in all aspects of custodial work including but not limited to chemical use, safety, equipment, methods, and practices of custodial maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of procedures, methods, materials, and equipment used in large scale custodial and grounds maintenance.
  • Experience in all aspects of grounds work including but not limited to chemical use, safety, equipment, methods, and practices of ground maintenance.
  • Customer service experience, effective communication skills, both orally and in writing to interact with a diverse campus community to assign, inspect and instruct employees, gather, and disseminate information, promote teamwork and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:
  • 5 years or more of supervisory experience in the environmental services field.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • Experience with CMMS and electronic work order systems.
  • Work experience in a college or university setting.
