Position Summary:

Arkansas Tech University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor of Computer and Information Science level starting in August 2023.  The Computing Sciences division serves 300 students and offers two Associate degrees (AAS in Cybersecurity and AAS in Information Technology), four Bachelor degrees (BS in Computer Science, BS in Computer Science Education, BS in Cybersecurity, BS in Information Technology), and one Masters degree (MS in Information Technology).  The BS in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET (http://www.abet.org/). Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student interactions through undergraduate and graduate research, advising, and student organizations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach, assess, and develop courses in information technology and related fields with emphasis in computer networking and/or IT project management.

Effectively advise and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Oversee student projects at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Engage students in high-impact learning practices.

Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community, and state.

Perform research that leads to publications in journals and conferences.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and the ability to teach classes in computer networking and/or IT project management.

Ability to teach fundamental courses in information technology.

Demonstrated skills in both oral and written communication

Required Qualifications:

Earned Ph.D. (or if ABD, the degree must be awarded by December 31, 2023) in Information Technology or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience in teaching networking and/or IT project management courses at all levels.

Industry experience in networking and/or IT project management.

Industry certifications related to networking and/or IT project management.

Experience in online teaching.

Evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Experience in ABET accreditation activities.

Participation in community outreach.

Evidence of or potential for fostering an inclusive environment for diverse populations.
