Position Summary
The AACSB accredited College of Business at Governors State University seeks applications for the Director of Academic Services position beginning January 2023. The Director of Academic Services at COB provides planning, operational, and logistical support to the work of the College, especially related to student services and advising, assessment, accreditation reporting, curriculum management, and student/alumni relations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- 30%: Accreditation, Reporting, and Data Analysis
- Working with Director of Accreditation and Assessment, coordinates/facilitate ongoing effort associated with annual and other reporting requirements and activities related to unit and program accreditation
- Collaborating with the Dean, Division Chairs, Director of Accreditation and Assessment, and program coordinators, coordinate accreditation processes and team visits
- As COB’s liaison to the IRE, develop appropriate data collection and mining strategies, information analysis and creation of reports to support all academic initiatives of the college
- Maintain/develop warehouse of materials to achieve compliance with accrediting agency expectations and prepare for regular accreditation reviews
- 30%: Support Curriculum Review, Development, and Implementation
- Support COB curriculum review and revision activities
- Support course scheduling within the COB in collaboration with Division Chairs and the Dean
- Coordinate catalog development with Division Chairs
- Ensuring accuracy and update of academic documents supporting academic advising – student handbooks, fact sheets, catalog, study plans, forms, program website, major advising guides, maintaining portal sites for students
20%: Manage Student and Alumni Relations, and Serving as COB Liaison to Other Student Service Units on Campus
- Manage communications for degree programs and courses to current students
- Collect and report student internship participation and other engagement activities
- Serve as COB’s liaison to GSU Career Services Office, Student Affairs, and Academic Resource Center
- Coordinate student exit survey, retention roundtable, and other indirect assessments
15%: Supervise Graduate Academic Advisor, Admissions and Records Officer, and Coordinator of Internship and Employer Relations
- Supervise the Graduate Academic Advisor, Admissions and Records Officer, and Coordinator of Internship and Employer Relations
Act as liaison to the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center
5% Other duties as assigned by Dean

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, higher education, and related fields required
- Three to five years’ prior coordinator work experience in higher education, preferably in a College of Business
- Excellent communications skill – both written and oral
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Effective human relations skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in business, education, or related areas
- Familiar with HLC and AACSB accreditation standards, policies, and procedures
- Proficient in web design technology, and social networking, and have the requisite skills to serve as a webmaster
- Proficiency in data organizing, analysis, and presentation using spreadsheet and other tools
