The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Department of Music invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Keyboard
Studies. The successful candidate will teach one section of Keyboard Skills I (MUS 111, secondary piano class) during
the Spring 2023 semester, in-person on TCNJ’s campus in Ewing, NJ.

Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree (ABD considered) in a relevant specialization in music, including PhD in Music Theory, PhD/DMA in Composition, PhD/DMA in Piano Pedagogy, EdD with piano concentration, or DMA in Piano Performance.

  • Proven record of at least one year of successful collegiate-level keyboard class (group piano) teaching experience with music majors, including as a TA.

  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, including timely communications via email.

  • The availability and commitment to teach regularly during the 14-week semester and to administer final exams during the designated final exam period.

Teaching Load:

During the Spring 2023 semester, the particular section of Keyboard Skills I meets on Tuesdays and Fridays between
8:00-9:20 AM from January 24 through May 5. Duties also include administering the final exam during the designated
final exam period as well as providing midterm and final grades. All sections of Keyboard Skills I use a common syllabus,
lesson plans, and teaching materials, which will be implemented in consultation with the Area Coordinator of Keyboard
Studies.
