At Loyola University Chicago, the role of Treasurer is an officer position that reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Business Officer.
 

The Treasurer’s responsibilities include the following:
 

  • Banking Relationships: Selection and oversight of the University’s domestic and international banking relationships, including negotiation of banking service agreement terms.
  • Cash Management: Leadership and oversight of the cash management operations and team (led by the Director of Cash Management) that handles daily cash positioning, PCI compliance and certifications, merchant processing, banking fees, collaboration with IT, Controller, Chief Investment Officer and other University leaders in evaluation of processes, payment methods and technologies used in banking, cash forecasting, credit cards, and other financial systems and processes.
  • Debt Management: Strategy, planning and administration of debt issuances including bonds, bank loans, credit facilities and debt-related derivatives. Management of relationships with rating agencies, trustee banks, lenders and investors. Development and maintenance of institutional debt polices. Debt compliance, due diligence, continuing disclosure, and payment of principal and interest.
  • Risk Management & Insurance: Oversight of the Director of Risk Management and Insurance, including: administration of over 25 insurance policies, claims management, multi-campus University-wide risk management efforts, contract review, broker relationships.
  • Other: Primary management of the University’s internal bank; team cohesion, coaching and evaluation; ongoing review of Treasury operations with a view toward process improvements and efficiency; periodic RFP processes; ad hoc support for miscellaneous finance operations and University initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field
  • Ten years of relevant experience, particularly with banking systems and treasury management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in treasury or cash management
  • Experience in higher education
