Position Summary:


The VCU School of Medicine, Office of Faculty Affairs invites candidates to apply to a position as Human Resources Coordinator. The primary responsibilities will be to provide human resources administration support and analysis for the School of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs. Responsible for initial review of all faculty employment offers/contracts, salary reallocations and contract changes as well as maintenance of the Faculty Information System. Coordinates activities related to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, terminations and appointment verifications for School of Medicine faculty to ensure that all VCU and MCVP regulatory requirements are followed. Communicates changes in Human Resources procedures to School of Medicine departments; coordinates and participates in HR training for same. Maintains all required faculty personnel files ensuring adherence to confidentiality policies. Acts as a resource for SOM Departments providing guidance regarding VCU & MCVP administrative faculty HR processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in recruitment, hiring, onboarding and termination processes/procedures
  • Ability to interpret and explain HR policies and procedures as well as provide technical HR support to SOM department staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills sufficient to make independent decisions and determine when consultation with supervisor is necessary
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite and database software.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of diverse team and ability balance multiple projects necessary.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in and/or understanding of Human Resource processes in an academic medical center environment.
  • Experience using University Human Resources systems including Cornerstone, Banner and Workday.
  • Experience in human resources management for basic science and/or clinical faculty positions.
