Position Summary
The Department of Health Policy and Management ( HPAM ) seeks candidates to fill anassistant/associate professor position in the clinical track.
The successful candidate will co-coordinate and teach courses in the Master of Health Administration ( MHA ) program as well as other related courses for graduate/undergraduate students in health care management and policy areas. It is expected that the faculty member will help manage the Master of Health Administration ( MHA ) program of the department, identify potential internships and residencies for MHA students, place students in internships and residencies, advise students, supervise residencies and capstone reports, maintain contacts with preceptors and teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in health care management and policy areas. Important to the position is active involvement transmitting knowledge and educating the next generation of public health professionals.

About the College/Unit/Department
The department offers an undergraduate minor in health policy and management, an MHA degree, and a DrPH degree. In addition, HPAM supports a health policy and management concentration area within the College of Public Health MPH program. The College of Public Health is actively engaged in community outreach activities. HPAM is a strong supporter of this College mission and the successful candidate will support these activities. Founded in 2005, the College of Public Health is located on the University of Georgia’s Health Sciences Campus. The College consists of four departments and three specialized institutes. The department is located in newly renovated facilities that house faculty, staff and students. The College of Public Health is actively engaged in community outreach activities.

Candidates should hold a terminal degree, professional or academic, or a relevant master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, MPA ).
Additional Requirements
Appointment at the Assistant Clinical Professor rank will require a relevant terminal degree and professional or academic experience, with 10 years’ professional work history as a health sector leader managing various aspects of the health sector such as health care finance, healthcare operations, quality management, health policy, human resources and/or marketing.
Candidates for Assistant Clinical Professor rank without a terminal degree must document at least 10 years of industry experience and exceptional accomplishments as a leader in the health care sector (e.g., being a leader in health care organizations as President, VP, CEO, CFO, etc.) and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire. With either rank, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate relevant industry background and contacts that will support the MHA program’s needs for internships, mentoring, and related student requirements. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
- At least ten years of health sector leader experience is required for applicants without a terminal degree.
- The successful candidate will have expertise and industry background in health care administration and management.
- Professional work history as a health sector leader managing various aspects of the health sector, such as health care finance, healthcare operations, quality management, health policy, human resources and/or marketing is preferred.
- Candidates must show evidence of ability to engage in effective teaching and service.
- Preference will be given to qualified candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in their teaching, research, service, and/or industry work.
- Ability to teach across programs.
- Interest and expertise in the arena of online courses developed by the department is desired.
