Job Description:

This position provides leadership, direction, and administration of day-to-day operations for the Brown Center for Longitudinal Medical Outpatient Research (COLMR). The Administrative Manager supervises staff for supporting the research and educational functions of the Center and works with COLMR Executive Leadership to develop organizational infrastructure, standard operating procedures, and policies for supporting overall operational efficiency. The Administrative Manager manages operating and grant accounts, oversees the development and coordination of grant proposals, and coordinates human resource operations for COLMR faculty, staff, and trainees. This position works with COLMR Executive Leadership to develop COLMR’s branding efforts, communications, and event planning. The Administrative Manager works with faculty, staff, and senior level executives at Brown, long term care facilities affiliated with COLMR, Brown affiliated Hospitals, as well as regional and national strategic partners, to build and maintain effective relationships to ensure operational effectiveness. The Administrative Manager works with COLMR Executive Leadership to identify personnel, facility, and resource needs and participate in long-term planning for COLMR.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 12/31/2025 which may be extended based upon available funding.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred);

  • Health care or biomedical research experience is preferred;

  • Plus 3-5 years’ experience with managing high volume of workflow in a highly collaborative setting;

  • Experience working with corporate and/or government funding agencies preferred;

  • Experience in pre- and post-award grant management preferred;

  • Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies:
  • Excellent organizational, project, and process management skills; ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience working with diverse populations.

  • Highly proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, project management, and communication/collaboration apps.

  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering work with high standards

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Positive and energetic approach to work.

  • Familiarity with granting agency (e.g., NIH and private foundation) requirements and grant submission process.

  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with community stakeholders, such as LTCF residents and/or families.
