Job Description Summary

White Center for Financial Research at the Wharton School is seeking a pre-doctoral research associate to support empirical work that intersect the areas of macroeconomics, public finance, investment dynamics,econometrics and behavioral corporate finance. The research associate will work closely with Finance Professors Winston Dou and Marius Guenzel.

Job Description

The Rodney L. White Center for Financial Research at the Wharton School is seeking a pre-doctoral research associate to support empirical work that intersect the areas of macroeconomics, public finance, investment dynamics,econometrics and behavioral corporate finance. The research associate will work closely with Finance Professors Winston Dou and Marius Guenzel.

A successful pre-doctoral research associate will work in this challenging position for 1-2 years and emerge prepared to apply for PhD programs in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Business, or other quantitative social science programs. Research Associates will be encouraged to be an active part of the Wharton research community, which can include attending seminars, exploring personal research interests, and taking graduate-level classes at Wharton. The Research Associate will join a cohort of pre-doctoral research associates both in the Finance Department and across other departments at the Wharton School. The Research Associate will also be expected to assist as needed in select Rodney White Center programs and activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA, BS, or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline,
  • Experience in coding and quantitative analysis,
  • Proficiency in STATA (strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency in additional packages such as R, Python, Matlab, or Julia (valuable but not required),
  • Previous research experience such as undergraduate research assistantships or thesis research,
  • A passionate mindset about economic research and quantitative data analysis, anticipating applying for an economics or finance PhD.
