Job Description

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine on the Virginia Tech Campus in Blacksburg operates a busy and dynamic pharmacy and is searching for it's next Pharmacist. This position oversees the pharmacy practice and operations at the VTH. The VTH Pharmacist performs the professional functions of the pharmacy and reports for direction and guidance to the Hospital Administrator and/or the Hospital Director. The VTH Pharmacist supervises all pharmacy staff, maintains records and documentation of all transactions in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations and in accordance with Hospital policy; the Supervisor performs, oversees, and/or approves the filling and dispensing of patient prescriptions; the Supervisor provides technical and professional training and instruction to pharmacy employees and students; Supervisor oversees the procurement, storage, and distribution of all drugs and pharmaceuticals within the VTH pharmacy.

Required Qualifications

Registered Pharmacist licensed to practice in Virginia. Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with demonstrated skills and abilities as a Registered Pharmacist. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work with and support clinicians, house officers, and senior veterinary students in a clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge/experience in a college or education setting. Hospital pharmacy experience. Experience in retail pharmacy. Supervisory experience.
