SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging faculty member to join the School of Applied Technologies starting (in January) Spring 2023. 

Applications are being accepted for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track faculty member in the School of Applied Technologies teaching Electrical Controls/Instrumentation courses. The position is part of a two-year, associate degree program that prepares graduates for employment as an electrical control/Instrumentation technician and/or mechatronics technician. A desirable candidate will have a minimum of five years of industrial/factory experience as a controls/instrumentation technician. The successful candidate should possess hands-on working knowledge and experience in the following areas: power installation, control circuit wiring, control and power system troubleshooting; PLC and VFD experience including Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC equipment, programming and troubleshooting; electrical schematic and wiring drawing using CAD, EPlan, or Solid edge; control and power system sizing including conductors, conduits, motor circuit, control circuit equipment and overcurrent protection; control and power system design and calculations based on NEC and industry standards; and electrical safety practices.  Some experience in teaching or working with young adults is also desirable.

Faculty members in the School of Applied Technologies programs are responsible for the following:

Program Development

  • Participate in annual systematic assessment of program
  • Participate in analyzing data and making recommendations for curriculum and programmatic revisions where necessary

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based instruction in accordance with the policies set forth by the College
  • Post and keep regular office hours for the convenience of students
  • Participate in the assessment of course, student learning, and program outcomes
  • Incorporate student service learning opportunities

Advisement

  • Assist in advisement of students
  • Guide and counsel students toward personal and career development
  • Track student's completion of progression requirements

Academic & Organization Commitment

  • Serve on campus committees
  • Mentoring Adjunct Faculty
  • Participate in full and part-time faculty meetings
  • Participate in accreditation reviews and reports
  • Engage in the academic and organizational life of the college
  • Pursue scholarly interests


Requirements:

  • Associate's degree and five years of industrial/factory experience as a controls/instrumentation technician for an Instructor appointment.
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of industrial/factory experience as a controls/instrumentation technician required for appointment as Assistant Professor.
  • Hands on electrical controls experience including power installation, control circuit wiring, control and power system troubleshooting.
  • PLC and VFD experience with PLC equipment, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electrical schematic and wiring drawings in CAD, EPlan, or Solid Edge.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree  
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience in control and power system sizing including conductors, conduits, motor circuits, control circuit equipment, and overcurrent protection.
  • Control and power system design and calculations based on NEC and industry standards.
