Primary Purpose of Position:
The Postdoctoral Researcher in Materials Science will carry out research and duties related to the NSF sponsored project: Excellence in Research: Mechanisms of Hyperdoping Silicon with Nitrogen (EiR Hyperdoping Silicon).

Minimum Education/Experience:


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Research Scientist will support the PI’s research and all activities related to the EiR Project. The postdoctoral scientist is required to develop strong collaborations with the PI’s research group members and the students, as well as off-campus collaboration related to research on hyperdoping silicon and related topics. He/she will be supervised scientifically and administratively by the PI of the project. Highly interactive interpersonal skills for effective communication with project team members and scientists are required.

The postdoctoral scientist must have strong experience in i) silicon and germanium processing (e.g., hyperdoping, delta doping, ion implantation, heat treatments for materials recrystallization, CMOS processing, diffusion,…), ii) Delineation of structural defects and electrically active defects in semiconductors, iii) Elemental analysis using Z-contrast and EELS under HR TEM, iv) Radiative and non-radiative transitions, v) Multiscale modeling of defects (from point defects to extended defects) and stress and strain in materials, and vi) Analytical techniques: Photoluminescence, nanoprobe techniques (AFM, NSOM, TERS, nanoFTIR,…), and HR TEM.
The applicant must have published in the above listed research areas.The ideal candidate must have done research on silicon hyperdoping and understands the driving mechanisms.
