The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers degrees at the BS, MS, and PhD levels as follows:

 

  • BS degree in Computer Science with concentrations in Software Systems, Data Science, STEM Education, Cyber Security
  • BS degree in Computer Engineering
  • BAS degree in Information Technology - Cyber Security (pending state approval).
  • MS degree in Computer Science with concentrations in Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security
  • MS degree in Data Analytics (a joint program with the Rollins College of Business)
  • PhD in Computational Science, Computer Science concentration

In addition to the administrative duties, the successful candidate will be expected to teach and conduct research in their areas of specialization.

Qualifications, Key Skillsets and Experiences:

Successful candidates are expected to have the following:

  • Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Demonstrated record of excellent teaching and research in his or her areas of specialization
  • Demonstrated record of leadership and ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Industry experience in computer science, IT, information security or related field (preferred)

 

Responsibilities:

The candidate is expected to:

  • provide a vision and leadership for the department
  • oversee all aspects of department operation
  • Advocate for the department and act as a principal administrator
  • provide exceptional leadership and be a role model to faculty and staff members in the department
  • Work with the Dean and oversee the academic/programmatic functions of the different degree programs in the department
  • oversee and update departmental curricula to align them with departmental objectives, college goals, and community needs
  • supervise and evaluate departmental faculty and staff
  • provide services to the department, college, university, and professional organization(s)
  • promote the departmental programs, recruit, and develop first rate faculty and students.
  • work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty and staff within and across disciplines
  • develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships, activities, and communication with industry partners

  • work with faculty to increase departmental research productivity
  • work with research centers and their resources to enhance funded research
