Prospect Research Analyst (Remote/Hybrid)


Northwood University seeks a Prospect Research Analyst to direct, maintain and supervise a comprehensive, accurate, and timely development research system to support the University’s fund-raising objectives and to evaluate and analyze researched information as to prospect identification, financial capability, associations, and connection to the university.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Manage the collection of information and preparation of profiles to provide timely research on individuals, corporations and foundations from an increasingly diverse body of resources including public documents, legal records, periodicals, computer databases and the Internet.
  • Provide prompt and reliable information (both proactive and reactive) from various sources about major gift prospects in advance of development and fundraising operations. This information includes, but is not limited to, biographical information, giving history, university relationships, strategy statements, talking points, and outcome analyses.
  • Monitor a variety of news resources to track information on alumni, donors, prospects and fund-raising opportunities; disseminate information in a timely and creative manner to appropriate audiences.
  • Maintain a current research/reference library of books and periodicals related to research and development; employ database searching services. Utilize information resources available over the Internet and retain current information on other fee-based data services available in the commercial market.
  • Actively seek, identify and recognize external opportunities that present viable funding sources that match Northwood goals, priorities and requests.
Expectations :

  • Work with the Director of Advancement Services to supervise the development tracking system (SPM process), including creating and designing reports, inputting biographical and wealth information into the database and managing information processing and other system related issues.
  • Work with the Major Gift Officers and Alumni Office to identify and explore the giving potentials of University Alumni and friends.
  • Work closely with the Office of the President to provide timely information about individuals, corporation and foundations as needed for upcoming meetings and as requested.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in prospect research or a research-related field or position.
  • Possess very strong problem-solving abilities and be able to exercise independent initiative as appropriate. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including editing, spelling and grammar skills as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis of development operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
