Job Description:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology at Weber State University is accepting applications for an assistant tenure track faculty position starting fall semester, 2023. The department offers baccalaureate degrees in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering technology and an associate in pre-engineering. Selected individual will mostly develop and teach a variety of courses in energy engineering with support teaching in the additional programs mentioned above. Service duties include program-building and advising, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

Job Duties:
Required courses to be taught are EEN 2600 Engineering Economics, EEN 3000 Design, Ethics and Entrepreneurship, EEN 3200 Sustainable Energy, EEN 4300 Energy Auditing, Capstone Senior Design I & II. Additional areas of interest included, but are not limited to, EEN 1200 Introduction to Energy Engineering, ENGR 2300 Thermodynamics, the development of additional energy engineering technical electives listed on WSU catalog program page, and other courses in the department.

Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related area.
At least three years of industry or lab experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Energy Engineering.
At least five years of industry or lab experience.
Teaching experience at the University level along with positive evaluations are a plus.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.

Weber State is located approximately 30 miles north of Salt Lake City. The cost of living in the Ogden area is below the nation’s average. In addition, the surrounding area offers many recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast.

Physical Requirements of this position: Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
