Job Description:
The Department of Zoology at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Human Anatomy and Physiology starting Fall, 2023. Anatomists and physiologists whose work is focused at any level from molecular, cell to organism are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties:
The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant Professor level and will be expected to
  1. teach upper and lower division lecture and laboratory courses in his/her area(s) of expertise (e.g. Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Endocrinology);
  2. establish an active and sustained research program that includes mentoring undergraduate students;
  3. seek external funding in support of teaching or research; and,
  4. establish collaborations with colleagues in the College of Science and throughout the University.


Required Qualifications:
  1. Ph.D. in Anatomy, Physiology, Endocrinology or related fields. Candidates who expect to complete a Ph.D. by the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester also will be considered.
  2. Ability to teach cadaver-based Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and upper division electives such as Endocrinology.
  3. Evidence of teaching excellence and interest in using innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies.
  4. A demonstrated commitment to conducting high-quality research and to mentoring undergraduate researchers.


Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Postdoctoral experience in any research field.
  3. Interest or experience in integrating research or other high-impact practices into classroom and laboratory instruction.
  4. Experience teaching and/or mentoring students from underserved populations and non-traditional students.
  5. Experience in collaborative teaching.
  6. Interest or experience in outreach involving K-12 schools, local organizations etc.

Physical Requirements of this position: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or consistently to move objects, including the human body. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing only occasionally if ever.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
