The University of Northern Colorado invites nominations and applications for the leadership position of Dean of the Monfort College of Business. The University seeks a proven leader with a strong commitment to, and understanding of, the educational mission of the University. The Monfort College of Business is dedicated to the highest quality of education for students. The Dean serves as the chief spokesperson and advocate for the College both within and outside of the University and ensures that the College serves as a vital resource to the state and region.

The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business

The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business (MCB) is recognized for delivering excellence in business education. It is accredited by AACSB International in both business administration and accounting. Monfort is also the first and only business program to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from the Office of the President of the United States.

Our undergraduate programs include Business Administration degrees in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance, General Business, Management, and Marketing. MCB recently acquired Recreation, Tourism & Hospitality. We are home to a Software Engineering program that is offered in collaboration with the College of Natural and Health Sciences. The program prepares students for success in the fast-paced and ever-changing world of computer software development.

At the graduate level, the College offers Master of Business Administration. The flexible MBA program offers specialization in healthcare administration, human resources management, general business management, marketing, and accounting analytics.

Responsibilities of the Dean

The dean is a member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Team and provides strategic, collaborative leadership at the institutional and college level. The dean leads college efforts focused on community engagement, including representing the College as a public advocate and strong representative of the disciplines represented in the College. The dean advances and upholds the institution's lived commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion at all times. The dean is responsible for the college's revenue diversification, seeking donations from individual donors as well as corporate and foundation partners. As the chief academic officer of the college, the dean is responsible for the vitality of academic programs within the College and for supporting a culture of collegiality, continuous improvement, and evidence- and data-based decision making. Strategic budgeting and advancing institutional strategic priorities are key responsibilities of the dean, who
must also be committed to serving a diverse student population with integrity.

Qualifications

The College is seeking a dynamic leader who brings passion and an understanding of the convergent disciplines that comprise the College. The Dean must have demonstrated significant achievement in leadership and administration.
Specifically, the candidate must demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications:

Required qualifications

• A PhD or DBA from an AACSB accredited program in a discipline represented by one of the departments in the College, and a record of scholarly and professional accomplishment consistent with appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure;
• A minimum of three (3) years of academic leadership experience as a Dean, Associate Vice President, Associate Dean, or in a similar higher level academic administrative position;
• A thorough knowledge of the operations, philosophy, and mission of an AACSB- accredited college of business administration;
• Ability to build budgets and multi-year fiscal outlooks;
• Demonstrated experience fostering faculty engagement and success in evidence-based pedagogy, scholarship, and service;
• Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and empathetically in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion, preferably in higher education.

Preferred qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with effective scheduling, enrollment projections modeling, and other aspects of strategic enrollment management and strategic budgeting;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data and the ability to use appropriate
software (e.g., Banner, Insight, Power BI) to engage with these data and use them in the decision-making process;
• Ability to lead and inspire within a shared governance, resource-constrained environment;
• Ability to manage change, innovate, and make difficult decisions in a collaborative and inclusive manner;
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues across a broad range of groups, backgrounds, and positions;
• Ability to solve problems creatively while working to build consensus that effectively moves the College forward;
• A high degree of creativity and mature intellectual judgment, as well as a high level of empathy and diplomacy in working with stakeholders within the institution and in the community;
• Experience in working closely with faculty within and across the college in developing
innovative academic programs.
