The School of Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position with a starting date of August 16, 2023. We especially seek innovative scholars and teachers with a research focus on mental health, including but not limited to disparities in mental health, access to mental health care, severe mental illness and related effects, and the use of health technology to improve health and mental health access, equity and related outcomes. We likewise seek expertise in mental health curriculum development and course delivery in the mental health concentration, the largest of our MSW specializations.

The successful candidate will have established an initial research portfolio demonstrating promise for developing a productive and impactful record including publications and external funding. Demonstration of the ability to establish excellence in teaching social work undergraduate and graduate students likewise is expected. A Ph.D. in social work or another health or social science field is required; candidates holding MSW degrees are preferred.

The University of Illinois School of Social Work is a freestanding unit renowned for its achievements in research, teaching, and community engagement. Our three social work degree programs have expanded rapidly in the last ten years, and now include both campus-based and online teaching opportunities. The School is committed to developing and disseminating knowledge for practice, with special emphasis on identifying the needs of marginalized and minoritized groups, developing responsive social welfare programs and interventions, and promoting social, racial and economic justice. The School is the home of the Children and Family Research Center (https://www.cfrc.illinois.edu/) and the Center for Prevention Research and Development (https://cprd.illinois.edu/), which provide rich sources of data as well as opportunities for research collaborations.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time tenure-track faculty position, appointed on a nine-month service basis. The position is available August 16, 2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
