The Department of Counseling and Human Services at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The person in this position will teach undergraduate and graduate level Human Services Leadership courses in both on-campus and online settings. In addition, this person is expected to maintain an active program of research and publication, provide service to the department, college, university, professional community, and the human services profession.

In this role, the candidate is expected to promote the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of the University, the College of Education and Human Services, and the Counseling and Human Services Department. Additionally, this person will work collaboratively with the Department Chair and Graduate Program Coordinator for all matters involving the assigned course(s). The candidate will assume all responsibilities in specific courses as assigned. Courses will be focused on theoretical knowledge and practical skills required of community leaders. Finally, the candidate is expected to facilitate a collegial relationship with stakeholders, as well as assume responsibility and accountability to promote the quality of the Human Services Leadership Program. This position provides potential opportunities for program leadership.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include contributing to teaching in the Human Services Leadership program, advising undergraduate and graduate students; supervising internship and advanced internship students; engaging in research/scholarly activity; providing leadership within the Human Services program; facilitating connection in the community through service learning; and contributing creatively and compassionately to the program, department, college, university, and state through service and outreach.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Earned doctorate (completed prior to Fall 2023) in Human Services Leadership or a closely related area (Counselor Education and Supervision; Sociology; Social Work; and Educational Leadership)
  • Strong background in teaching, assessment, and research methodologies
  • Knowledge of and experience in Human Services Leadership content areas
  • Demonstrated experience in working with community agencies
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations with a global perspective
  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting
  • Experience in online course delivery
  • Experience and knowledge providing clinical supervision
  • Experience or knowledge of management of non-profit settings
  • Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research
  • A record of scholarship and defined research agenda
  • Community development leadership experience with a non-clinical orientation
  • Evidence of the commitment to social justice, advocacy, and community change
  • Evidence of the willingness to collaborate and work cooperatively with colleagues
  • AODA Certification
