Job Description:

The Department of Biology at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of Anatomy and Physiology beginning Fall 2023. This is a non-tenure-track position. The initial appointment will be for one year with renewal contingent on performance. Expectations include teaching and continuing professional development.

The Biology Department offers BS Biology, Biology Minor, MS Biology and MS Lake Management programs and contributes to the Pre-Health Professional Advisement Tracks and BS Adolescence Education: Biology. On-campus facilities include a small animal facility, molecular research lab, and aquatics lab. The College's Biological Field Station includes separate research facilities on Otsego Lake in nearby Cooperstown, NY with access to wetlands, uplands, forests, and streams on 2,600 acres. Duties include but not limited to: teaching 21-credit-hour equivalents per academic year, including a two-semester series of Human Anatomy and Physiology courses (BIOL 2200 & 2202) and other courses to meet department needs. The Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II are high-enrollment courses (approximately 120 students per semester across all sections) that are required for majors such as Dietetics and Exercise Science and students of all majors interested in pursuing careers in Health-related professions.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• MS in Biology or related field with demonstrable expertise in human anatomy and human physiology
• experience teaching undergraduate courses as instructor of record or teaching assistant

Preferred:

• Ph.D. in Biology or terminal degree in a related field, with 2 years teaching experience
• experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology lecture and laboratory
• demonstrable proficiency in professional communication skills
• experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations
