Founded in 2000, the National Crime Victim Law Institute (NCVLI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational and legal institute located at Lewis & Clark Law School in downtown Portland offices. NCVLI’s mission is to actively promote victims’ voices and rights in the justice system through crime victim centered legal advocacy, education, and resource sharing. NCVLI promotes crime victims’ rights in criminal, civil, military, and administrative justice systems nationwide through litigation (in the form of amicus curiae, occasional direct representation, and legal technical assistance); education through publications and trainings (both in-person and technology-assisted); and public policy development. For more information about NCVLI, visit the website: .

NCVLI and Lewis & Clark College are committed to achieving a diverse workforce. Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every one of the qualifications listed. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be someone who may not meet all the specified qualifications. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds who meet the basic requirements of the position to apply.

NCVLI operates in partnership with Lewis & Clark Law School. Lewis & Clark follows CDC and state OSHA guidelines for employee safety. As such, we are requiring employees and students to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. In light of the global pandemic NCVLI staff are currently working hybrid – both in our downtown Portland office and remote.

NCVLI seeks an experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate Director of Administration and Operations. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operational, administrative, and financial management of NCVLI. In performing these duties, the DAO will work with the Executive Director, Staff Accountant and other leadership to chart NCVLI's future growth as the demand for victims' rights education and advancement continues to increase. The DAO will be a mission-focused, strategic, and process-minded leader.

NCVLI is funded primarily by government grants and contracts, and this is a grant-funded position, the continuation of which is dependent upon the renewal of funding.
