The Department of Biology at College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting full-time faculty appointment in Microbiology for the 2023 spring semester and the following academic year 2023-2024 (contingent upon a review of spring 2023 teaching). In the 2023 spring semester, the courses include Microbiology lecture and two associated laboratory sections. In the 2023-2024 academic year, courses include Microbiology Lecture with two associated Laboratory sections in the fall semester, as well as a selection of three elective and/or non-majors classes within the Biology Department in the spring semester. Pending a review of teaching during academic year 2023–2024, a reappointment could be made for an additional year, bringing the total appointment to 2.5 years.

Visiting full-time faculty teach three courses each semester and are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies. All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and include full benefits.

The Department of Biology is committed to providing support and mentorship of our visiting faculty to ensure future success within their chosen career path. The successful candidate will be provided with significant teaching mentorship in the microbiology course, as well as mentoring in other areas of teaching and in their continued scholarship efforts, as appropriate. There are no required service or scholarship expectations in this position. The Department of Biology at Holy Cross consists of faculty that span the breadth of Biology and participate in interdisciplinary programs including Environmental Studies, Neuroscience and Biochemistry.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. (or ABD) in biology or related fields. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in microbiology or closely related fields.
