Job Summary
The Executive Director, People Operations is a key leadership role on the Human Resources Leadership Team, primarily tasked with the leadership of the HR Business Partner Center of Excellence and the HR Service Center. The Executive Director, People Operations additionally ensures that they always maintain a full perspective of the business, placing emphasis on employee relations, policies and people management procedures in application across Drexel University. In this position, the Executive Director collaborates with HR directors as well as with senior HR leadership in the deliberation and establishment of both short and long-term departmental and organizational strategies. A key objective of this role will be established accountability to service standards with each Center of Excellence to increase client experience with HR interactions through procedures, policies and communications.

Essential Functions
- Take initiative to develop and drive people management strategies and client service support that promote an environment where all employees feel valued and respected
- Ensure that all HR strategies implemented are aligned with the overall university priorities and goals
- Ensure that there is consistent application, implementation, and improvement of approved strategies at all levels and departments within the university
- Serve as a coach and consultant to the university’s departmental heads and managers as well as other faculty and professional staff on key organizational and management matters
- Coach university leaders on HR policies and processes, inclusive of talent planning, development, and performance management to promote a culture of continuous growth and development in the business.
- Develop and execute a lifecycle approach to people management focused on forecasting, staffing, development, on-boarding, performance management, retention, success planning, talent movement, and leveraging workforce insights and analytics
- Work closely with the Office for Institutional Equity and Office of Faculty Advancement to understand themes of faculty and employee relations to proactively create opportunities of support for managers to avoid future issues of the same nature.
- Work with stakeholders and business partners in ensuring the implementation of best practices and compliance to all local, state, and federal legislation
- Leverage workforce insights and analytics to inform the university’s leaders on relevant people management issues while assessing potential strategies and presenting solutions
- Conduct research and data analytics that identify talent gaps, assesses organizational performance, and proposes solutions that are in support of the business and that are in promotion of ongoing talent, development plans, and succession
- Draw strategic reports and recommendations from findings meant for senior HR management, departmental heads and management, stakeholders, and business partners
- Maintain a superior level of technical HR skill, knowledge, and expertise, inclusive of legal knowledge and the latest trends and best practices
- Understand industry and business factors that shape how HR strategies are developed, implemented, and sustained; in addition to maintaining an understanding of the business, market influencers, and finances in order to add to the ability to influence leadership and management
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or Equivalent
- 7+ years of progressive leadership and management with relevant experience in Human Resources
- Vast experience in organization development, human resources, training, and talent planning field
- Proven and successful ability to build, lead, and integrate effective and lasting people management programs within a business
- Demonstrate successful experience building awareness on key organizational issues and presenting a relevant solution to guide departmental heads, management, and stakeholders through a collaborative and shared decision-making process
- Experience working with change management principles, tools and methodologies
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strategic thinker with a reputation for a having a proactive, practical, and pragmatic approach
- Strong executive presence with ability to build credible, trusting relationships with a broad array of managers, leaders, and University partners
- SPHR or SHRM certification preferred
- MBA, MA or master’s degree in Business, Human Resources or Organizational Development, strongly preferred
