Clinical Assistant Professor- Counseling and Counseling Psychology

Position Description

The Faculty of Counseling and Counseling Psychology (CCP) in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for two clinical assistant professor positions. The successful candidates will teach undergraduate and/or graduate counseling courses. 


CCP is home to an APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology, a master’s program in clinical mental health counseling approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, and undergraduate majors in psychology (PSY) and counseling and applied psychological science (CAP). The CAP Bachelor of Science is one of the first in the nation at a large, public institution.  Our undergraduate programs are located at the Polytechnic campus and via ASU Online. Currently, we have more than 700 undergraduate majors. Our 60 credit hour Master’s of Counseling is a State Board Approved program.  We are currently developing a specialization track in school counseling and a Spanish certificate program for mental health professionals, and are launching an online master’s program in clinical mental health counseling.


The Counseling and Counseling Psychology faculty is committed to diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. This is an academic-year appointment with an expected start date of August 16, 2023. This position is a fixed-term, benefits-eligible, academic-year (9-month) appointment with no tenure implications. Clinical faculty have the strong possibility of long-term careers at ASU based on continued excellent performance, the needs of the institution, and the availability of funding. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

·      Doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or related field at the time of appointment

·       License-eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Psychologist in Arizona

·       Ability to teach in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously)

·       Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion


Desired Qualifications:

  • Active involvement in professional organizations
  • Clinical supervision experience
  • Evidence of effective teaching/supervision of practicum clinic or Internship coursework

·       Experience developing community partnerships to enhance training experience

·       Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment

·       Experience teaching in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously)

·       Demonstrated success meeting the needs of underrepresented students and/or diverse communities
