Associate Provost

Founded in 1870 by a family of inventors, Stevens Institute of Technology is a student-centric research university, with technology at its core and the student experience always in mind. The Associate Provost will have direct responsibility for the Office of the Provost staff, the Office of the Registrar, and assist in the day-to-day management of the Offices of International Student and Scholar Services and Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

Reporting directly to the Provost and operating as part of a collaborative team, the Associate Provost will oversee a staff of 9 full-time employees, leading and managing the Office of the Provost to ensure high standards of excellence and responsiveness, operating with a high level of professionalism, accuracy, attention to detail, creativity, and integrity. The Associate Provost will represent the interests and priorities of the Provost through effective communication, coordination, and integration of academic initiatives, priorities, and objectives. Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, science, engineering, education or other related field;
  • Master’s degree or doctoral degree in a related field (preferred but not required);
  • Minimum of 10 years of academic and/or administrative (preferably, a combination) experience;
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Prior direct personnel and budget management experience;
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills;
  • Exemplary communications skills and writing ability with audiences at all levels within the university;
  • Ability to work effectively with various constituencies;
  • Demonstrated successes in programmatic, budgetary, and financial planning;
  • Understanding of the university’s academic enterprise and administrative operations; Strong organizational acumen;
  • Strong technology skills and savviness;
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills;
  • Confidence to act independently, as a team member, or as a team leader as circumstances dictate;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail; and
  • Sound judgment and discretion.
